I developed a vertigo dizzyness issue during the pandemic. I tried getting back on my road cycle, but my equilibrium issues made it too risky. I started watching your videos and one where you had someone from TerraTrike on inspired me to stop into a TerraTrike dealer here in Portland OR. Rose City Recumbents. They had a Rogue in stock. They set it up for me, and I took it for a spin. It fit in my hatchback with the back seats folded flat rear wheel first. That was actually a deal maker. How could pull the great looking blue Rogue out my car. l bought it on the spot. I had been on a weight lost mission and was sort of doing double sessions. Either a walk in the morning and trike ride later. My long rides were around 16 miles. The Enviolo City Hub is really smooth and great fit for the Rogue. I think you called it a good city trike that you can take on longer rides in that video. While l would love to have a racer and a touring cycle, the Rogue is a great fit for me. As you said, it has a quality build for the price. The majority of my rides are local, I live in a great location in Oregon for riding it. I have a bike trail right behind place and there are other urban trails, side walks, and sreets that are perfect. The Rogue is a blast. I acclimated to it instantly. Im 64 and riding my big road cycle long distances was tough on the body. I dropped about 15lbs in the couple of months to add to the 25 I had already lost. But , I didn't heed your advice, and hadn't replaced the stock pedals yet. I had ordered a mid-drive motor kit and finished installing it on 08/01. I'm an engineer and have electrical/mechanical skills. On its maiden voyage on a 95-degree evening, I had a pedal drop. It was unrelated to the motor. I was on level 0 when it happened. It broke my fibula at the left ankle. Luckily, I had installed the thumb throttle. I almost left it off. It worked, and I made it back on throttle only. I was about three miles out with some hills. I've had surgery and am on the mend, but I'm going to order some pedals with clips before I even sit on Rogue again. There are some longer rides with epic , and hils that I want to do that the motor will make possible.

Back problems come from weak glutes and core unless it's been in a traumatic incident. Lifting weights is helpful not sitting and pedaling on recumbent. . Good commercial though lol

I rode a bike until I was about 57 years old , but it just got too painful . Leaning forward taking weight on your shoulders, elbows, wrists supporting the weight of your upper body on your old bones that have done a lifetime of hard work , no good at all , likewise bikes seats are like torture. There’s just no comparison to how comfortable a trike is. I love my magnum trike , and having a motor assist takes a lot of the pain out of worn out knees too . Anyone having difficulty on a conventional bike should beg or borrow a ride on a recumbent trike and see the difference.

In my late 40s riding a regular bicycle started becoming painful. By my mid 50s even a short ride was painful by my late 50s I had to stop all together, even a short 4 - 5 miles ride ended with crippling nerve and joint pain. Pain that lasted for days later. Then in my early 60s I discovered recumbent trikes. About two years ago I bought a Catrike Dumont. I’m back up to riding 40 miles comfortably. The only reason I have or get sore now is the kind sore you’d expect to have when you ride too hard and too far. But the nerve and joint pain, that’s gone. I’m a bike rider again, well trike rider I guess. Anyway, if you’re thinking about getting a trike, but still on the fence, just go do it. You won’t regret it.

I bought my Catrike Road in 2015 and still ride it. It cost more than I wanted to pay but it was worth it. If a person can not see these on the street then they should not be driving but the only place you need to be really careful is in parking lots and along side of vehicle as the cars make you invisible being lower down. And buy a loud horn.

My first trike was a Delta Trike by Lectric. I discovered that I felt insecure going down hills with their high center of gravity. Delta Trikes are really fine on mostly flat ground. Where I live in Williamsburg, Va. it is not flat, so I purchased a tadpole trike from ICE. Also, the seats on delta style trikes are simple bicycle seats and not comfortable after a couple of hours.

My first machine was the old version Catrike Road! It had a rear shock. I absolutely loved that trike❤ ... Yet the rear shock which was adjustable: Worthless! They upgraded that style Road putting suspension on all 3 wheels, and quickly dumped that version and brought out Dumont. After playing with the 700 which was not suspended - I got a tiny - unsuspended Pocket and absolutely love it! It was fun talking about, but for hard- surfaced trails? Suspension for me sucks ....

My biggest problem is finding a shop that has more than one brand of trike. To find trikes I could test ride I had to drive to 4 different cities, as far as 285 miles round trip away. I ended up buying a Catrike Dumont, it fit me and my needs to best. The good news, there are 2 Catrike certified shops within an hours drive from me. If you’re thinking about getting one, you gotta put your butt in the seat to know if it’s the one for you.

The All Terrain has a couple of design issues with the upper chain path with the Bosch motor. The chain tube under the seat mount when under tension gets sliced by the chain easily (mine lasted under 50 miles). If you add the fenders, the rear fender mount pushes the chain tube out in lowest gear (largest sprocket) and causes shifting issues. My chain tube was completely destroyed climbing a steep hill in lowest gear with maximum boost.

Great review. They are certainly a high quality product but the pricing has become absurd. Most of those features can be added to a Catrike or other brands or done after market. I’ve ridden tens of thousands of miles on my two Catrikes in comfort and total reliability at a fair price. I can also call the company directly and have a person answer the phone, solve any problem or get me any part I need the next day at a fair price. I’d rather do business in the USA.

A bike shop in the nearest city was the only trike place until the owner became ill & closed the shop. There are 2 recumbent shops 60-70 miles away, north & south. The closest one requires you to make an appointment. I really don't want to drag the owner out to ask some questions about repairs & maintenance for the trike I've owned since '08. I went back to bikes after my health improved. I may go back to a trike as I age out of my bike(s).

All great ideas, I’ve done them all at some point or another. But one of my motivations is I’m trying get back my distance, and like to ride town to town. Something else is do a tour. Whether that’s something like Cycle America, the RAGBRAI or a cause like riding for MS reach, (I’ve done 16 MS TRAM tours in the past before my daughter was born) or cancer research. But these formal rides are fun. The promoters do the all hard work of carrying your stuff, and having supports along the way, making sure you’re fed and hydrated, you just get to have fun riding, camping and being with like minded riders. And if it’s one of the riding for a cure, you get the knowledge you helped someone by covering the costs of research.

G'day from Sydney, Australia. My closest trike shop is in Cootamundra approx. 400kms away. Australia only has seven trike dealers, most of which are working from their homes, and as a result have limited stock with very few ones to try out. Thank you for all your videos, they are very informative and have helped a lot. I've never had the opportunity to experience a recumbent trike. I'm now in my mid 50's and have the desire to enjoy a days ride without the associated pain that comes with a bicycle. Maybe I should call you sometime and pick your brain.

What about apartment dwellers like myself I live in government house built in 1968 with very thin door ways in the apartments Folks van fit their narrow wheelchair. My Terratrike tour 2 ua wider. So do they make thinner wheel based trikes

I really enjoy looking at that set up, but I’m curious how does it compare to speed, compared to a pretty good regular hand cycle trike? Please let me know.

Or just go faster and fly down. Some suspension is always good for such type of riding 🙂

Suspension and off-roading go together great!

What’s the advantage of having horizontal handlebars over vertical?

It's mostly personal preference. Some folks may have better strength and leverage one way or the other. Each brand usually has a style they prefer and design their trikes around it.
